8BFR Music Network uses a three-tier age system to keep our community safe while giving everyone the best possible experience. We comply with current U.S. state laws including COPPA and emerging under-16 social media regulations.
🧸 KidZone — Age 12 & Under
Safe Creative Space for Kids
Children 12 and under are placed in KidZone — a fully separate, moderated section of 8BFR. KidZone has its own navigation, its own content, and its own community. Kids cannot see or access the main site, and main site users cannot see KidZone.

Requirements: A verified parent must create the child's account. Parent verification uses Didit identity verification. Parents have full moderation control over their child's account, including viewing all activity, approving uploads, and controlling permissions.
🔵 Teen — Age 13 to 15
Main Site with Safety Restrictions
Teens aged 13-15 can access the main 8BFR platform with parental consent. Several features are restricted until they turn 16 or until a parent explicitly grants expanded access. A parent's email is required during signup.

Requirements: Parental consent via email confirmation. Parent receives a consent link during the teen's signup. Parent can adjust time limits and feature access through their own account settings. All teen DMs are restricted to other teens or their verified parent.

Full Platform Experience
Users aged 16 and older have full access to all 8BFR features. This aligns with emerging legislation across the U.S. and internationally that sets 16 as the threshold for unrestricted social media access.

📋 Why These Age Tiers?
8BFR's age policy is designed to comply with and exceed current laws protecting minors online:
Under 13 (COPPA): The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act requires verifiable parental consent for children under 13. Our KidZone system fully complies with this through Didit identity verification for parents.
Age 13-15 (New State Laws): As of 2026, at least 17 U.S. states have enacted laws restricting social media access for minors under 16. Virginia, California, Florida, Tennessee, and others now require parental consent and feature restrictions for users under 16. Our teen tier satisfies these requirements.
Age 16+ (Full Access): This threshold aligns with the emerging international standard. Australia, France, Spain, and multiple U.S. states have set 16 as the minimum unrestricted age for social media.
👁️ Platform Monitoring & Safety
The platform owner reserves the right to monitor all public and private communications on 8BFR for safety purposes. This includes:
• All community chat messages across all rooms
• All direct messages between users
• All KidZone activity, posts, and interactions
• All teen account activity
Owner monitoring may be conducted anonymously to ensure the integrity of safety checks. This is stated clearly in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

All available account information will be forwarded to law enforcement authorities. 8BFR takes child safety extremely seriously.
